PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Carson-Newman’s music degree allows you to customize your studies to fit your musical interests and secondary interests. After completing your music core classes, you can choose upper-level electives to specialize in church music, vocal pedagogy, music theory, piano pedagogy, music education or a combination of all of these areas. This major has a minor built into the degree requirements so that you can pursue a related field to broaden your expertise and enhance career opportunities.

DID YOU KNOW?
Each year, Carson-Newman hosts the Tarr Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition, open to any current senior or recent high school graduate who has not yet attended college and who has been accepted for admission to Carson-Newman. In addition to the full-tuition scholarship, other music scholarships are awarded as well. The competition will also serve as your department audition, which is a requirement for admission to the program.

During your time at C-N, you have the opportunity to participate in a variety of choral ensembles and bands. If your interest is worship music, possibilities abound for leading worship at campus events and local churches.
